Great traditional British Pub with separate rooms, coal fires and value drinks
Good beers, but no catering available until 6pm. Signs confusing as they say food available 7 days per week
MoreExcellent Pub. Another great night at the only proper pub left in Mobberley. Bitter is still only £2 a pint. Great clean pub. Easy parking. All the fires lit and a great traditional atmosphere. Good food as well.
MoreWhat's not to like. Fantastic pint of Sammys (the best ale, end of!), lovely open fires on a cold evening, the staff, landlord n lady (Jay & Bev) are most hospitable as we're the locals. Best of all dogs are welcome and Ted our 4 year old boxer loves going there as he always gets spoilt and makes cow eyes at Liv the bar maid. Go give it a try, it's how a traditional pub should be.
MoreSome of the cheapest beer I've ever seen!! Really nice too
A great little pub that was one of my favourites as a youth (more than 30yrs ago) visited recently and was pleased to see that it had hardly changed at all....Real 'authentic' country pubs with an 'agrarian' atmosphere have become something of a rarity in Cheshire now. Sensible prices too!
MoreNice basic pub. Roaring fire. Food very nice. Best feature for me is NO Music!
Fair prices. Good staff
Nice friendly Pub , lovely atmosphere. Staff very friendly. All in all a nice little pub.Cash only , doesn't take card.
MoreNice country pub, with very reasonably priced drinks !
Great British Pub, not fine dining. This is a lovely pub, dogs are allowed and there were a load of locals in when we visited today. Friendly and helpful staff. Bangers and mash was good, dark mild ale was good and there were 4 fireplaces burning, with at least one more which is probably lit at weekends. There are trendier places in this area which lack consistence and soul. This is an unpretentious pub, with character. That is why there are so many locals and none at the other 2 pubs we visited.
MoreI have been to this establishment for quite some years, I see that they only take cash, the pub itself is oldy world with live fires which can be warm and cosy on the colder nights, it's a Samuel Smiths pub, the landlord and landlady are very pleasant but, if you don't know anyone in there no one will probably talk to you if you are on your own, I've spent many a time in there and said nothing to no one and I always just think that the people in there are all full of their own importance, a typical Cheshire set in my book just plastic people........ I can't comment on the standard of food as I've never eaten there but what I've seen looks edible and they generally are busy for Sunday lunch........ There's no TV or music, their belief is people should talk to each, that's OK if you're a couple or you're with friends or family, I'm just not in that league I'm afraid.......
MoreAmazing food , jay and his team cant do enough for you x
Nice location fairly isolated, narrow road access. Very nice old style with character. Best when quiet as limited parking.
MoreA wonderful example of an English country pub, unspoilt by anything gastro, no refit to make it look like any other gastro pub in the uk, its brilliant! Sam Smiths Pure Brew a top beer, its cheap too.
MoreIt has improved a great deal. The beer is as good as it has always been, and at a reasonable price of £2 per pint. Now they are serving lunches too. The Fish & Chips is my favourite!
MoreTotally traditional pub with roaring coal fires 🔥 in most if not all rooms, zero noise from TV or jukebox and an excellent Sunday roast beef lunch, what's not to like ! @ £2 a pint it's unbeatable 🤫 but it does have carpets instead of sawdust and spittoons 😀
MoreGreat little pub nice bar staff great beer loverly garden
Very pleasant country pub friendly staff
Very friendly. Food was good - more pub food than restaurant and reasonably priced.
MoreVery old fashioned Pub. Separate rooms for drinking or eating. Coal fires when it is Winter or a Chilly spell! Really cosy. Lovely Staff. Great if you need to stop off on a Bicycle ride to fuel up? Food or Water. Food is quite good!? Reasonable prices. Large Car Park. Nice eating/drinking seating area outside front of Pub. Dog's allowed, so long as they are well behaved!? Families are welcome.UPDATE: This establishment has been closed for some time now??? Whether it will re-open as a Public House in the future l do not know? If it does open up l hope they keep the character of the building inside and out!?
MoreGreat pub great price great food
Lovely Cheshire pub with good ale and decent pub food, you won't be disappointed.
MoreNice country pub. And £2 a pint. Good pit stop after hard day in the office.
£2 in a fab sunny spot 🤗
Proper traditional family pub. Served the roast beef Sunday lunch today which was really good. There can't be many pubs left where a pint of beer costs only £2 ! There are open hearth fires, no juke box or tv's but excellent hospitality, good beer and well worth a visit.
MoreLovely looking country pub but could not drink my drink. Bought a lime and soda and it looked lovely but that was where it ended looks can be very deceptive. I thought it smelt strange but when I took a sip it made me heave it tastes terrible like how stagnant water smells
MoreOld pub with Sam Smith's ales. Very reasonably priced. Not posh. Drinkers pub like most other Sam Smith's venues. They do food in the day. Next to a bus stop on the wilmslow to knutsford route which is handy. Be careful if you are on your push bike as the lanes are a bit dodgy. Stay alert
MoreLovely quaint authentically old pub with low ceilngs and snug areas plus a raised open plan room to the rear.Polite ambiance and great value beers. Food available. Parking area could be bigger but well worth a visit
MoreFriendly, cosy and good range of very well priced beers
It is great place to go
Lovely food. Pleasant staff.
Friendly old fashioned local pub. No telly, no mobile signal, plenty of talk.
Pretty pub in a quiet setting. Sam Smith's tied house, so you'll only get beverages from their range. But if you like them, they're well kept and enjoyable whether drunk inside or out. Mind your head on the door if you're on the tall side though!
MoreGreat beer, simple hearty food and open fires. Very welcoming.
Nice old friendly pub, very nicely situated in small village, very popular.
Proper spit and sawdust pub, the way they used to be!
Excellent. Fires were lit. Great beer. Proper English country pub, not a fake "gastro" hole.
MoreGreat pub and staff best beer in Cheshire
Normally have the chicken and leek pie but on this occasion it wasn't as good. For some reason the pie just wasn't the same and my friends agreed.
MorePossibly one of the all time best ever Cheshire Country Pups you will discover anywere in the UK.Also one of the cheapest bear you will find anywhere. As it's a brilliant local to many locals you often can chat to some unique characters. It's like stepping back in time.Sadly this style of pub is disappearing, sign of the times etc.The food is all home made & is recommended. Free car park & lovely outside garden to drink in with friends & family. One classic original English pups at its finest. Strongly recommend asap.
MoreVery nice country pub with really good pub food 😋
Good service and good pint
Grate landlord, grate staff, grate beer and awesome food. Friendly atmosphere. Family plus dogs are more than welcome. Lots of lovely countryside walks in close vicinity. We parked in their car park in the morning, had a lovely walk and then enjoyed a Sunday lunch second to none. All in all a grate pub.
MoreVery good pub brought back to life by the New manager I'm told the foods not bad either
MoreLovely meal and good prices. We sat in a room with a lovely roaring fire.
Lovely food, great roast dinner. Polite and friendly staff. Decent prices. A little gem of a pub.
MoreExcellent pub/ restaurant. Largely unchanged in 15 years at least. Sam Smith's beers.
MoreVery old fashioned pub. Drinks very reasonable. Only had a sandwich but very plain! Landlord and staff very pleasant and amenable
MoreAlways let our walking group park here, friendly and cheap beer
